Players are not the only one breaking records in the NBA. Teams also break records. Here are a list of records broken during the 2014/15 season by the Franchises in the NBA.

San Antonio Spurs hired Beck Hammon as a full-time assistant coach. She is the first full-time female coach in any of the 4 Major US Sports. She joined the spurs after her retirement at the end of the 2014 W-NBA season.

The 2014/15 Regular Season record of San Antonio Spurs ensured that they have won at least 50+ regular season games for 16 consecutive seasons. This is one of the longest streaks in North American Sporting history. It also marks the 18 Consecutive playoff appearance for the Spurs, making them one of the most consistent franchise in the 21st Century.

On September 29, The Phoenix Suns became the first team to have 2 sets of brothers on their roster. Markieff and Marcus Morris were already a part of the squad and Goran Dragić’s younger brother Zoran signed a 2 year deal with the Suns. The 4 played together only 2 times, once against Los Angeles Clippers on 15 November and Philadelphia 76ers on 2 January.

On November 13, The Dallas Mavericks led Philadelphia 76ers by 44 points at the half. It is the joint 2 highest lead by a team at Half time in NBA history.

15 January saw the Los Angeles Clippers acquire Austin Rivers in a three-way trade with Boston and Phoenix. The Clippers are the first franchise to have a  father-son combination to be actively involved . Austin’s father, Doc Rivers is the head coach of Clippers.

The Atlanta Hawks became the first franchise to go on a 17-0 record in a month. This was accomplished on 31 January 2015. The Hawks starting line-up was named as the “eastern conference player(s) of the month”. This incredible run played a major role in helping the Hawks finish the regular season as the best Eastern Team.

The Trade deadline day on 19 February, 2015 saw a total of 43 players being traded across the NBA. One of the highlights was Kevin Garnett returning to the Timberwolves. Another highlight was bench shuffle for the Oklahoma City Thunder with players heading to Detroit and Cavaliers and players from Utah coming in.

On the last day of the season, New Orleans beat the Oklahoma City Thunder to the number 8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. All the 5 teams of the Southwest Division made the playoffs. The 2005-06 Season saw the last time all 5 teams made the playoffs (Central Division from the Eastern Conference).

The 5 teams that qualified from the Southwest Division all finished with a winning record in a tightly contested divisional battle.

The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks endured their worst season in the h. The Lakers finished 21-61, surpassing their previous worst of 27-55. The Knicks finished with the worst NBA record of the season with a 17-65 record. The Utah Jazz are now, the only NBA franchise that has not experienced a 60 loss season.

The Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors were the number 1 seeds in the Eastern and Western Conference. Both teams achieved their first ever 60 win seasons as the Hawks finished 60-22 and the Warriors finished 67-15. Both also reached the NBA finals for the first time since 1976 (Warriors) and 1970 (Hawks).

The Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets made a combined 37 3-point field goals in game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. The Warriors made 20, 3-field goals (tying the NBA record for 3 pointers in a single playoff game by a team) and the Rockets shot 17. The 37 is the most scored by teams in a NBA playoffs match.

The Houston Rockets are the 9 Team to win a playoff series being 3-1 down. This was accomplished in the series against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Rockets would go on to face the Warriors in the finals of the West.

The Atlanta Hawks were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals. This is the 4 time the #1 seed has been swept away.
