Asian Games 2014: India Loses To Saudi Arabia In Second Qualifier

After an extraordinary start of their Asian Game campaign by defeating the Palestine ,they lose to Saudi Arabia by 6 points as they failed to maintain the momentum of the previous game and came down fighting hard. The final score was 67-73, in their second Group B qualifying round match in the basketball competition of the Asian Games on Sunday.

The Saudi Arabians took the lead of 19-13 in the first quarter then extended this lead to 40-27 at the halftime.

In the third quarter Indian men was not able to stop the Arabians and they went to the final quarter at 59-46, 13 points behind.

In the final quarter, India tried for a comeback with their ferocious attack by putting 14 points without giving away any points. This offensive assault brought them closer, with a gap of  just 4 points ( score at that moment was 62-66) but it was too late and ultimately they were not able to grab the win.

Belal Fahad Alsalik was the highest scorer for Saudi Arabia with 17 points, while captain Amritpal Singh and Amjyot Singh finished with 19 points for India.
