The city of Chicago is headed for the lottery. The big three of Dwyane Wade, Jimmy Butler and Rajon Rondo have officially split up with each of them going different places. Their 41-41 record last year will take a beating this season, and rightly so.

For a team looking for a top 3 pick next year, the Bulls don’t straight up suck. They did get two young guards in Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn for Jimmy Butler. Although LaVine is still recovering from his ACL tear last season, he should be good to go sometime before the all star break in February. He averaged 19 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists last season.

One of the few players who stayed in Chicago is Robin Lopez. He should be a good fit at the 5 in his second season with the Bulls. Chicago heading for the lottery might not sound good to the fans, but it is a great opportunity for the young core to develop their game.

Speaking of young players, Chicago’s first round pick Lauri Markkanen raised a lot of eye brows at the recently concluded EuroBasket 2017. Markkanen averaged near 20 points and 6 rebounds and led the Finns to the pre-quarter finals.

The alpha-male position is up for taking. The suitors mainly include two names; LaVine and Markkanen. With LaVine out, Markkanen has a job to do. He might turn out to be the biggest underdog in this year’s draft class.

The Chicago Bulls won’t be tanking straight to hell this season, courtesy of the new draft lottery rules. This means competition, even at the lower rung of the eastern conference. Their standing as good as a guess, but they will try to stay as low as possible.
