The new manager of Manchester United FC, Jose Mourinho wants Rio Ferdinand back to his old club, but in a coaching role, according to various reports.

It is known that Jose Mourinho prefers people in his coaching staff who have through and thorough knowledge of the club, and Ferdinand, with his 12 year run at Manchester United, is a good prospect for the role. The ex-English defender retired last year after a stint at Queens Park Rangers, and has been a Television Pundit ever since.

Ferdinand, if chosen, would be alongside Rui Faria and Silvino Louro in the supporting staff. Ryan Giggs too, it seems, plans to continue his term at the club, in a coaching role.

Rio personally would have a major decision to make, as the move could involve moving his children from his South East home. His wife, Rebecca, lost her battle with cancer last year. But, the invitation of working alongside a purely tactics based manager would pave a good path for a man who would want to see his career up ahead on the football ground.

It is fairly well known that Mourinho wants to have people associated with the club in his staff. One particularly famous man included Brendan Rodgers, who was the head youth coach for Chelsea FC from 2004-2008, now managing Celtic FC after his run at Liverpool. At Real Madrid, he brought Aitor Karanka as assistant manager, who now manages a rejuvenated and newly promoted Middlesbrough team.

The manager has already jumped right into the train, as his list of prospective signings increase, names some of which include the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He also has renewed the contract of Marcus Rashford, who seems to be a hot future prospect for both Manchester United and England.
