Glenn Maxwell joined the banter party today when he made fun of Virat Kohli. Rivalries make the game interesting and when the top two teams vie for the series, the contest is taken to another level. The ongoing India v/s Australia Border-Gavaskar trophy has already seen its fair share of banter earlier in the series. Ashwin has made David Warner his bunny and both the players look to dominate other. Ishant Sharma took on Steve Smith when he imitated the peculiar Steve Smith habit of an unusual neck movement. But the kangaroos took the sledging to unacceptable level when Glenn Maxwell took a jibe at Virat Kohli.

Brought into the test side and given a chance to play over the injured Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell grabbed the opportunity and made the most of it when he brought up his maiden test ton. Coming to bat at number 6, the hard hitting Aussie batsman engineered a brilliant 191 run stand with the skipper Steve Smith, where he contributed a 104 runs. Considered as a very orthodox limited over package, Maxi has defied the beliefs of the cricket pundits with such a vital knock. Coming to bat at the score of 140/4, Maxwell played one of the most mature knocks as he took his time to let the runs flow and kept on hitting on the lose deliveries. Maxwell has gained lots of love and respect from his countrymen, the coach, the selectors and even fans across the globe. However Maxwell lost all the respect on day 3 during the Indian innings.

The Indian skipper was away from the field for most of the time of the visitor’s innings but the Australians left no opportunity go waste to poke fun at him. When Cheteshwar Pujara guided the ball towards the midwicket fence, Maxwell gave a long chase and dived to flick the ball back into the ground in a manner similar to Virat’s attempt. After getting up, Maxwell was seen holding his shoulder just the way Virat did when he injured himself. However Maxwell’s act was purely to mock Kohli and not as a reaction due to injury. Having earned the respect from his Indian fans, Maxwell lost the same after this discouraging act.

Earlier, the Indian skipper continued to be in the contest even being away from the field. Virat was seen applauding from the window of the dressing room when the opponents lost both their reviews after unsuccessful attempts. The rest of the series is expected to gain more and more heat as the series advances.
