Bhuvneshwar Kumar must be feeling proud after Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan claimed that he is the best bowler of IPL. Murali who took 1347 wickets in his career is impressed by the bowling of Kumar.
The latter was the purple cap holder last year and this season he tops the chart with 16 wickets including a five-wicket haul. These stats speak for themselves but if Sri Lankan off-spinning legend thinks you are the best bowler of IPL history then indeed you are.
Murali talked about him during a press conference, he said,

“He bowls two overs in the PowerPlay and two at the death and his economy rate is so low. He’s the best bowler in IPL history. I’m not saying this because he’s from SRH, but I’ve been seeing him over the last four-five years. He’s so successful. Whatever the team has asked of him, he has delivered. Unfortunately he hasn’t played much Twenty20 cricket for India. He will be a very big prospect for India as well; in these conditions or in any conditions. Hopefully people will realise that because he hasn’t played much for India.”

As some of you will recall that in the last match of Hyderabad MS Dhoni destroyed their bowlers by hitting 50+ runs in the last 4 overs. According to Murali, you cannot do much when Dhoni is batting. He said,

“Everyone knows he’s the finest finisher in the world. Sometimes it’s very hard to bowl yorkers to him because he has a different way of playing. Even the yorkers go for a straight six. That was Dhoni’s day. Ten runs went off Bhuvneshwar off very good yorkers — a four and a six. It happens in cricket.”

Murali also feels that the presence of Rashid Khan and Nabi in the Afghanistan national team will be a positive impact due to the experience they are gaining in IPL. He added,

“Coming from a non-Test side and playing in the biggest T20 tournament in the world…that means there are capable players in their country. The only thing is to get the infrastructure right and support them. We (Sri Lanka) also came through like that in the 1980s. Zimbabwe and Bangladesh too. Even if they (AFGHANISTAN) get Test status, it will take them 10-15 years to make an impact.”

Sunrisers coach Tom Moody also talked to media and he was on the same page as Murali. He also admired Kumar’s recent performances. This is a big achievement for Kumar. Hopefully, he will achieve great milestones in the future.
