Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are regarded as almost bitter rivals during their time in Formula One together. Even though they were team-mates at Mercedes, they would often clash and engage in a public war of words. Now, since Rosberg’s shock retirement in 2016, things seem to have calmed down a little. But the Hamilton-Rosberg relationship will never truly heal, such was the enmity.

Lewis, has now regained his rightful place on the F1 throne in Rosberg’s absence. The 32-year old has claimed that he is uninterested in patching things up with the German. Hamilton said,”I last talked to Nico in Japan. But I do not invest any energy in changing our relationship.”

In October, Mercedes chairman Niki Lauda spoke up on the Hamilton-Rosberg relationship, whatever was left of it. The Austrian said, “They had no relation, which is always bad.  They were so bad that they didn’t even say hello in the morning. I don’t expect them to have breakfast together if they don’t like each other, I don’t expect them to sit down and have breakfast, but the relationship was really bad. It affected Lewis mainly and Nico [as well], so it was fine but not easy.”

Meanwhile, Rosberg believes that Hamilton could soon hang up his F1 boots. Nico said, “He has hinted this year that he doesn’t want to spend so much time travelling. He wouldn’t do that if he wasn’t thinking of it at least a little”.

As of now, Hamilton is dead-set on winning more titles for Mercedes AMG F1. He and the other F1 drivers are also looking forward to the 2018 season and a chance to challenge Lewis for the title. Among them are teammate Valtteri Bottas, Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo.
