Throughout the season, the start has not exactly been a strong point for Mercedes. Nico had a slow start out of the box, and which compounded by wheel spin just seconds later, allowed the Red Bulls and Lewis to pull ahead. It was here, Nico knew that he lost the race win and would try to make a podium charge. That would fail in the end again.

2.  Rosberg continued to get the attention at the German Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg seems to have a knack of ending up into trouble with the stewards at every race now. At the hairpin at Hockeinheim, he continued straight well past the normal turning point and pushed Max Verstappen out of the track. Despite claiming his steering wheel locked up, he was given a 5 second (turned 8 second) penalty by the Stewards. At least, he would not end up crashing.

3. Red Bull are now surging ahead in the standings.

Ferrari seemed the likely candidate to challenge the Silver Arrows. Red Bull have proven otherwise. Since Spain, the cars have come out strong. Ferrari are struggling and there seems to be discord between the team and the drivers. It has now experienced 3 races without a podium for the team. The German Grand Prix was another disappointing race for them, and the break can now allow them to evaluate their options.

Red Bull on the other hand, are now ahead of them in the standings, with their first double podium of the season.
