The Mexico leg of the 2016 F1 season was filled with plenty of spice and heat, which is probably what the local F1 fans wanted to see. Here are seven memes summing up the race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez-

Haas’ in-house Mexican Esteban Gutierrez had a difficult afternoon after colliding with Weirlein and Ericsson, bringing back memories of a certain “king of crashes”, Pastor Maldonado. Poor Esteban. He probably just wanted to give his fellow nationals a good showing at his home circuit.

The Mexico GP was littered with crashes and bad tactics, with Vettel, Verstappen, Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat all getting penalties. The penalties had quite an effect on the race standings, as first Verstappen, who finished 3 was demoted, promoting Vettel. But Vettel was given the penalty after the race, pushing him down to 5.

Vettel seemingly got his due just as the podium was being set up, as FIA decided to penalise Verstappen for his move on the German. But his happiness was short lived as he was also handed a 10-second penalty for colliding with Daniel Ricciardo, pushing him down to 5 place.

Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz was handed a 5-second penalty for running Fernando Alonso off the tarmac in the first lap itself.

Aaand…..The Verstappen-ness of it all

Young Max Verstappen gave quite a few Ferrari fans a scare with his tactics on raceday, leading Vettel to mouth quite a few expletives through the radio.

It must have been quite a shock for Red Bull fans when they heard that Verstappen, who’s hardly ever got anything more than a warning, was penalised, pushing him down to 5 place.

And finally, Max might have left the circuit with a bad taste in his mouth, as his 3 place finish and podium spot was handed over to Sebastian Vettel, due to him running the Ferrari driver out of the road during the race, and not allowing him to pass. FIA director Charlie Whiting’s hands were pretty much tied here Maxie.
