Asian mixed martial arts promotion ONE Championship is all set to add multiple athletes to their roster in the coming months. The company is working with Dominance MMA’s Ali Abdelaziz, who has promised to bring his stars aboard. The free agency market is exciting and one particular athlete is someone that ONE Championship Vice-president Miesha Tate would love to have on board.

In an exclusive chat with Essentially Sports, ‘Cupcake’ said, “I would love to see Werdum. Werdum is a great person, always been a gentleman to me, really a nice person. He is goofy, he is funny, he is quirky.”

These are aspects that fans would not associate with a fearsome martial artist. ‘Vai Cavalo‘ has held the heavyweight championship in the UFC. He has beaten big names such as Fedor Emelianenko and  Cain Velasquez.

Miesha Tate says Fabricio Werdum is a hell of a fighter

Touching on the Brazilian’s fighting talent, Tate said, “He is a hell of a fighter and you know he and Brandon Vera has fought before. I mean, that’s the fight that would be exciting for everybody. And you know he beat Brandon, so maybe Brandon feels like there is some unfinished business.”

The ONE Championship VP says that she feels the urge to get right back if she has lost a fight. She assumes it is the same amongst fighters all across the board.

In this regard, she concludes that Werdum signing with ONE Championship would “definitely be a treat for the fans.”

Fabricio Werdum returned to the UFC following a two-year suspension. He grew into his fight and looked better in the later rounds of his return against Aleksei Oleinik at UFC 249.

Two months later ‘Vai Cavalo’ submitted Alexander Gustafsson in the first round to win his final UFC fight.

The ONE Championship heavyweight champion Brandon Vera lost to Werdum twelve years ago at UFC 85 via first-round TKO. Following this, ‘The Truth‘ had a stop-start career in the UFC, before moving to ONE Championship and claiming the inaugural heavyweight belt.

He would be itching for Werdum to sign and give him the chance to have a rematch a dozen years in the making.
