Mohammed Shami, India’s premier fast bowler and Delhi Daredevils player has been ruled out of the entire IPL due to a knee injury.

Shami, who has missed all the 3 games for Delhi till now, was being monitored by experts and physios, only to be confirmed as unavailable for the tournament.

It comes as a major blow to Daredevils as Shami was India’s second highest wicket taker in the tournament with 17 wickets, only one behind Umesh Yadav.

He had also complained of knee trouble in the World Cup as well due to which he was rested for India’s match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

A BCCI official was quoted as saying, “Shami is out of the tournament. He might have to go for operation. He should not have gone for IPL. He will take at least two months for recovery.”
Shami was one of the few star players the Delhi Daredevils had retained from the last season when they had let go of players like Ross Taylor, Kevin Pietersen, Murali Vijay and Dinesh Karthik.

The Daredevils fans were looking forward to an impressive new ball combination with both Zaheer Khan and Mohammed Shami in the ranks, but with Shami set to miss out, the team management and fans will expect veteran Zaheer Khan to step up.
