Bubba Wallace Pokes Fun at Brad Keselowski for His Roval 2018 Incident

The NASCAR Cup Series reaches the Daytona road course for the first time this weekend. This will be a first for many drivers who have no experience whatsoever at the course. Some of the top drivers have expressed their excitement and uncertainty towards the new experience. Bubba Wallace has joined them as well and did it with a dig at Brad Keselowski.

Wallace poked fun at fellow driver Keselowski, referring to Keselowski’s 2018 incident at the Roval, and said that he is glad to not be part of the front row. Bubba Wallace will start in 19th place for Sunday’s race at the Daytona road course in his No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro. Keselowski will start two places above him in 17th place. Keselowski was out of the race at Michigan last Sunday after a crash, resulting in a low starting point at Daytona.

“I’m glad I’m not on the front row for this one. I don’t want to be like Brad at the Roval two years ago and overshoot the corner,joked Wallace.

The incident occurred in the Bank of America Roval 400 race at the Charlotte road course in 2018. Brad Keselowski was involved in a crash that eventually included 14 other drivers.

On the restart, with six laps to go, Keselowski seemed to overdrive an approach to the corner and then crashed into a wall. Kyle Larson crashed right into him and the others slammed into them soon after. Keselowski was in the lead with Larson in second place, when the incident occurred. Kyle Busch and William Byron were also affected, as a result. The incident brought out the red flag for over 14 minutes, as a result of the wreckage.

The race at Daytona puts all the drivers in a level playing field with most of them having no experience of the course. Kevin Harvick, who will start in pole position for Sunday’s race, also said that he has no idea where he is going. Denny Hamlin will start in second place with Martin Truex Jr. starting in third.
