LA Clippers are already facing issues with key players missing out on the first few games. Now the news is coming from the Lakers that Anthony Davis might miss the first game because of the eye injury he had. A lot will now depend on LeBron James to push the team to the win in their first game against the second-best team in the conference.

Rob Pelinka, Vice President of Los Angeles Lakers, has given an interview in which he discussed the way the Akron Hammer has been practicing lately. This year, LeBron will stretch to earn that fourth NBA Championship. The 35-YO is still in the race to become an MVP, but what matters the most is a title win for the team.

Rob Pelinka on LeBron James and his leadership

Pelinka seemed heavily impressed with the single-minded approach that The L-Train has shown in practice sessions. He shares his experience with getting to be around such a legend and says, “You spend time around the great greats, not just the greats but some of the greatest to ever play. And when it gets close to playoff time, those guys get so locked in. It’s just another level of sort of the mental approach, the physical approach, the mindset. And you could see it in LeBron. I mean, he is locked into a mission. He has got one thing in sight. He wants to bring a title home to the Lakers, and he is going to do everything within his power to do it.”

Anthony Davis is having a tremendous season too. He joined the Lakers and the Batman in King James found his Robin in AD. Touted as one of the greatest duos in the game, these two bring a monumental challenge to their competitors.

Pelinka also reflects, “His leadership with Anthony in the bubble. You know these guys are leading with their actions. I think you could see it in our first scrimmage game. We have the most together excited supportive player bench. I think I have seen these guys are so together. They are so on the same page. They’re all vying for the same thing, and the camaraderie has been incredible.”

LeBron must treat this season as his greatest opportunity

Not for personal gains, but still, at 35 years, LeBron must not let this chance slid away. The Lakers are 49-14 in the Western Conference. LeBron is assisting 10+ per game and posting 25.7 points per game with FG close to 50%. Most people believe that his prime stayed with him from 2008 to 2016, but he has all the capability to prove them wrong.

The first game will be Kawhi Leonard without Lou and probably Bron without AD. It will be interesting to see who can claim a decisive victory. The NBA season resumes on July 30 and LA Clippers will play the Los Angeles Lakers on the same day at 9:00 PM ET.
