Real Madrid defeated Espanyol ( 6-0) to register their second win of the league in three matches. Madrid got off to a flying start with a 4-0 lead just inside 28 minutes of the game. Then two more goals in the second half made it 6-0, as Espanyol were demolished by a superb performance from Benitez’s men.

Didn’t have much to do as Espanyol shots were mostly off target. Made a couple of decent saves to continue his good form and a good run of clean sheets.

The Spanish international was solid defensively and effective while going forward. Didn’t allow the Espanyol players any room to deliver anything into Madrid’s penalty area.

The new club captain was strong and dealt with any air balls put into the Madrid box. Showed great courage blocking a goal bound shot with his head, getting himself injured in the process.

Came back from injury to start his first game of the season, and didn’t disappoint as he dealt with many difficult situations including a few shots that he blocked.

Was wonderful defensively, as he dealt with a few one-on-one situations effectively, and won many fouls. Was equally useful when going forward, and instrumental in Ronaldo’s third goal of the game.

Wasn’t at his level best, as he missed quite a few passes, but fulfilled his defensive duties effectively.

Was the heart of Madrid’s attack and defence yet again, as he controlled the game with his sublime passes. Set up Ronaldo for his and Madrid’s first goal of the game.

Watching this man play is like having a choco truffle. Provided several awe moments with his superb skills, and was the first man to fall back to provide support defensively.

Played in the no. 10 role in the absence of James, and the Welsh wizard was again at his very best, as he provided three assists in the match, and was involved in two of the remaining three goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo –  9.0 (ES MOM)

Broke his goal scoring drought of two games in just the 7th minute of the game, and completed his hat-trick inside 20 minutes. Scored two more in the second half to take his tally to five goals in the game.
