Rafael Benitez’ first Champions League game in charge of Real Madrid went according to plans, as the Spanish giants beat Shakhtar Donetsk 4-0. Madrid took the lead in 30th minute, when Shakhtar keeper Andriy Pyatov made a terrible mistake, gifting Benzema the goal. Shakhtar midfielder Taras Stepanenko was sent off just after the restart when he picked up his second yellow due to a rash challenge on Sergio Ramos.
