Ace spinner and probably the most effective bowler in Pakistan’s lineup, Saeed Ajmal is set to undergo his second official ICC bowling test in Chennai on 24
January 14, 2015. Ajmal was suspended on 9 September 2014 from bowling in international cricket. His bowling action was found to be illegal and all his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees of tolerance permitted under the regulations. ICC has also said that if Ajmal clears this test, his ban will be lifted otherwise he won’t be allowed to give the test again before September 2015 and so he would straight away be banned for a year.Though, he cannot take part in the world cup now, but according to the Pakistan Cricket Board, this test is important because Ajmal is valuable to them even after the world cup. Unofficial tests did reveal that Saeed Ajmals’s stock delivery, the off spinner is within the 15-degree limit but the doosra is still not.Pakistan will miss Ajmal in this World Cup. In 111 ODI’s, he has taken 183 wickets at an economy of 4.14. His form before being banned was excellent as he took 12 wickets in 6 matches that he played in 2014 at an economy of 4.00. Pakistan is looking for options as a replacement for Saeed Ajmal but as for the world cup, Shahid Afridi is going to be the spearhead and is going to handle the spin department of Pakistan. Will this be the end of Saeed Ajmal’s career if he doesn’t clear the tests? Only time can tell.
