Former French Open finalist Sara Errani had been handed a 2-month ban by the Italian Anti-Doping Agency after testing positive for letrozole. The NADO Italia is not affiliated with the Italian Olympic Committee and they have been gunning for an extension of the ban. The ban was in effect from August 7th onwards, thus rendering her ineligible to participate in the US Open.

Errani alleged that the likely cause was from her mother’s medication and the consumption was accidental. NADO Italia have approached the Court of Arbitration for Sport but have not specified how long they want the ban to be extended. The Italian is currently ranked 238th in the world and may return to the tennis court on October 2nd (if the appeal is turned down). Meanwhile the US Open is carrying on as usual, the sports betting odds for the US Open especially for the women’s draw is getting interesting as a few top players are getting knocked out early.
