Pakistan’s star all-rounder Shahid Afridi has accepted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s offer of a formalised farewell. The farewell includes a lap of honour around the Gaddafi Stadium. Afridi was in Lahore for the World XI vs Pakistan matches. The PCB decided that there will be a short ceremony in honour of Misbah ul Haq and Afridi before the Pakistan vs World XI match begins.

According to initial media reports, the PCB Chairman had requested the 37-year old to do the lap of honour with the World XI and the Pakistan players. But it later transpired that he was asked to attend a reception to receive an award from the PCB. Afridi had refused and later it was decided that the lap would go ahead. Another senior batsman, Younis Khan also declined to attend the event despite reminders from the PCB.

But now, Afridi seems satisfied with the new arrangement of doing a lap around the stadium with Misbah and the other players. He had an abrasive relationship with the PCB following his farewell after retiring from international cricket.
