F1 Russian GP: Twitter Reacts As Sochi Bleeds Scarlet

The Russian GP kicked off this weekend and from the start, it was Ferrari all the way throughout free practice. But did Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have a few tricks up their sleeve? We take you through the qualifying session via Twitter.

The weekend was a fairly sombre one as many drivers and teams paid tribute to Formula 4 driver, Billy Monger who lost his lower limbs in an accident. Many drivers had the hashtag ‘billywhizz’ emblazoned on their helmets and cars.

Stoffel Vandoorne picked up a 15 place grid penalty for taking his 3rd power unit.

Jolyon Palmer stuffed it in the wall in Q1 but Hulkenberg managed to sneak in. Meanwhile, Sauber’s Pascal Wehrlein also spun into the barriers.

Alonso was struggling in the McLaren Honda (as usual)

But the day belonged to Sebastian Vettel and fans were going wild.
