Khabib Nurmagomedov Announces Fight Event in Moscow to Tribute His Father

UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and his family have left an unparalleled impact on the history of Russian MMA. Although the nation has produced several elites till now, Khabib remains to be the biggest superstar among them.

The Dagestani champion, mentored by his father, is not just a looming fighter but is also a perfect role model. Sadly, he doesn’t have his father by his side now. Khabib’s father passed away a few months back because of COVID- 19 complications.

That said, the lightweight champion is going to tribute his dad by hosting an event in Russia for his legacy.

The undefeated lightweight king has confirmed the event via Instagram. He posted an image of him and Usman Nurmagomedov to announce the latter’s participation in the co-headliner.

However, he did not reveal much about the event. The champion hasn’t announced the name of the opponent or exact location. It will be staged in Moscow, and the fight will be telecasted live on Match TV. Since the event honors the legacy of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib is bound to be present. Meanwhile, this little teaser sent fight fans into a frenzy.

Khabib gives all the credits to his father

‘The Eagle’ was primed by his father since childhood. Even in his last fight, Khabib’s father was present in his corner and saw his son defend the lightweight title successfully against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242.

In the post-fight interview, Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed how his father has been the biggest support system in his life. If not for his dad, Khabib would have never been a UFC fighter.

Unfortunately, he is no more but Khabib envisions carrying forward his legacy. ‘The Eagle’ will return to action against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on October 24. It will be Khabib’s twenty-ninth pro-MMA appearance.
