Valdes loan terminated by Standard Liège

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes’ loan deal has been terminated by Standard Liège, the club have confirmed. The Spanish goalkeeper had only signed for the Belgian Outfit in January and will now return to England where he still remains unwanted.

Valdes along with Greece International Giannis Manaiatis were both released to give more playing time to youngsters having already won the Belgian Cup in March. Les Rouches released the following statement on their website:

“As we decided to give more playing time to the youth players at the end of the season and because they couldn’t be selected for medical reasons, the Spanish goalkeeper and the Greek midfielder have decided, in agreement with the club, to finish their loans at the end of this week.”

“Standard Liège want to thank Giannis and Víctor for everything they did for our club, especially during the successful campaign on the way to winning the Belgian Cup. We also wish them the best in the rest of their professional careers.”

It remains to be seen whether The former Barcelona goalkeeper will make it to the United squad this campaign as they are still have the FA cup to play for.
