Serena Williams beat Garbine Muguruza 6-4 6-4
It was a nervous and scrappy start for the woman chasing her 21st Grand Slam title. Muguruza got through in the very first game, hitting the ball smoothly and leading comfortably at 4-2.

But that’s when Serena decided to be Serena and totally destroyed her Spaniard opponent in the next 6 games. Her return of serves were too strong for the first-time finalist as she surrendered the set 4-6 within 45 min. Muguruza’s loss in this fiercely contested leads one to speculate whether it has closed the doors for her.
Muguruza managed to win just one game in the next 20 minutes and meanwhile, Serena was serving for a place in record books to clinch her 6th title at the lawns of All England Club. Even the mightiest of them all tend to feel the pressure, and the American lost her game to love. She had 7 double faults to her name till this point!
With some terrific hitting and nervous Serena, Muguruza broke again. Was there a comeback in prospect?
At 4-5 , Muguruza’s serve, a shot from Serena hit the tape and fell over to give her 0-30 lead. Nerves really started ruining the play of the young Spaniard.

And with two Muguruza forehands – one went long and the other wide – Serena triumphed. She surpasses her sister Venus, winner of 5 Wimbledon titles, and completes the much talked about ‘Serena Slam’ – she now holds all the Grand Slams together.
Garbine Muguruza was left in tears, but she  had an incredible run this fortnight. In our opinion, she just came up against someone who is probably the greatest woman athlete the world has ever witnessed.
