Bought in the summer of 2013 from under the noses of city rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Willian was thought to be a backup with players like Juan Mata, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle already present. More than that, Chelsea paid a fee of about 30 million pound for the Brazilian’s services. After a few below par displays, Willian began to find his feet in the Premier League and appeared in 36 games out of 38 in the 2014-15 title winning season for Chelsea. Now, Willian has become an integral part in the Chelsea setup with his skill and work ethic, and has finally added goals to his game. Following the brilliant strike against Porto, we take a look at some of the best goals by Willian in a Chelsea shirt.

5)Chelsea 3-0 Watford (FA Cup round 3, 2014-15)

Jose Mourinho’s second season at Chelsea during his second spell saw the blues sitting at the top of the premier league league table, right from the beginning. With Chelsea favourites to win the premier league, they were also being tipped to win the quadruple. A home game against Watford in the FA Cup seemed an easy affair, and so it proved in the end, with Willian, Remy and Zouma scoring a goal each.

4)Macabbi Tel Aviv 0-4 Chelsea (UCL 2015-16)

With the home side a man down and Chelsea in absolute control of the play, it was not a question of ‘if’, but ‘by how many?’ Chelsea would win this tie. Gary Cahill had put the visitors in front after 20 minutes and Chelsea had to wait until the 73rd minute to score their second. Willian stepped up to take the free kick from a dangerous position and curled the ball into the far post, out of the reach of the keeper.

3)Chelsea 2-0 Porto (UCL 2015-16)

Languishing in the bottom half of the table at 16th, out of the capital one cup and a place in the last 16 of UEFA Champions League not yet confirmed, Chelsea have really been struggling this season. A win against Porto would confirm their progress as the group leaders, and it was yet again the man of the moment, Willian who stepped up to guarantee the top spot. Eden Hazard played a lovely through ball across to Willian and the Brazilian slotted pas Iker Cassillas, beating him at his near post.

2)Chelsea 1-3 Southampton (EPL 2015-16)

Another brilliant free kick by Willian saw Chelsea take the lead against a dangerous Southampton side just after 10 minutes. A darting run by Hazard was put to an end by a former Chelsea player, Oriol Romeu albeit at the expense of a free kick. The free-kick was wide of the goal but to the left, prompting a player of Willian’s quality to test the keeper.
