In a resurfaced YouTube documentary video about Hogan’s life, he shed a light on his first day at wrestling training.
Hogan said, “I went to Matsuda’s wrestling school on the first day. I thought I was ready and I apparently wasn’t because they exercised me until I was about to puke. (They) got me in the ring and stretched me, which means they bend your arms and legs so much (that) you faint.”
The WWE legend added, “Then finally I was out of it, that sort of sat down between my legs pulled up on my shin, and pulled up on my toe and broke my ankle. I had to make the humiliating phone call to have my dad come and pick me up. He was really upset.”
The first day didn’t go the way The Immortal One thought it would. Nevertheless, he returned to training after his ankle recovered and a few years later became a major name in professional wrestling.
