“I Wish I Had…” – The Undertaker Points Out His Only Regret Despite Enjoying One of the Most Successful Careers in WWE

Successful professional wrestlers lead a life of superstardom. Their flawless on-screen portrayal also leaves no stone unturned with regard to their character. But like any athlete, the squared circle performers also have to make a lot of sacrifices to entertain the masses. They may have some regrets, despite having an illustrious career. WWE legend The Undertaker aka Mark Calaway recently revealed one such rueful period of his otherwise rewarding time in the promotion.

He is certainly there with the best of the bests when it comes to his popularity. Ever since his debut in the 1990s, Taker has been amongst the most recognizable performer in the company. However, his super popularity has definitely come at a personal cost. He recently sat down for an interaction with SPORTSNET Tim & Friends. The Phenom pointed out that he missed spending quality time with his children during his career.

The Undertaker talks about his unfulfilled wish

He said, “You know I wish I had spent more time with my children right. There’s no way to really, atleast in my mind I was convinced that there was no way to have this career and do all these things and and be invested as a father. Now I learned later on that I could and I’ll not get that time back.”

But I can’t look back and say I really regret this or regret that. I really try to use the mistakes which I made many of. I always tried to use those as a learning tool and not make the same mistakes twice. You know, that’s the way I have to look at things.” added Taker.

Taker did dedicate his prime years to the industry and the fans. He gained another family through his stellar performance in the form of fans. But had to compromise by spending less and less time with his real family. The legend is currently married to former WWE superstar Michelle McCool and has two kids with her. He has three children from his previous marriage as well.

There aren’t many achievements in the wrestling world that have eluded The Deadman. The most impressive of his long list of feats has to be the WrestleMania streak. It was broken by ‘Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 in 2014.

2020 saw the end of a stellar career

The 4-time WWE champion retired in 2020. His farewell match was as cinematic as his career. He defeated AJ Styles in a Boneyard match. The Phenom would have finally gotten an extended spell with his near and dear ones post that. Going by his social media activity, he certainly does that quite a lot nowadays. Wife McCool’s social media post back in November adheres to the fact. The Deadman deserves all that, particularly after the rigors he has had in the wrestling ring for decades.

He was part of a legendary list of performers who gathered at the RAW XXX event last month. Taker’s segment with The Eater Of The Worlds Bray Wyatt certainly garnered a lot of attention.

The two superstars portray a similar kind of gimmick and have drawn a lot of comparisons. The mystical duo took on each other at WrestleMania 31, with Taker coming out on top on that occasion.

The Undertaker has absolutely given his all towards the betterment of the industry. He has enjoyed the popularity that not many have enjoyed throughout their career. Even a non-wrestling fan would also recognize his face, such is his incredible reach. But it has certainly come at a personal cost for the acclaimed performer.

It would not have been easy to stay away from his loved ones for such a long period. But his love for his craft and fans meant that he did just that. And he certainly acknowledges that, but has no regrets about the fact.
