Stone Cold Steve Austin Could Reportedly Be in Action at WrestleMania 39 With Former Impact World Champion Among Possible Opponents

Last year, Stone Cold Steve Austin shocked everyone at WrestleMania 38 Night 1 by coming out of almost 2 decades of retirement. The rumor mill was rife with speculation that the former WWE Champion was booked for a match, but nobody gave it a second thought. Austin shocked everyone by performing in a match with Kevin Owens, but he also put on a banger to cap off Night 1.
It’s WrestleMania season once again and the rumor mill is churning out ideas on the wall once again. But this time, people are not shocked about Austin’s return but his opponent. Not an established star or current champion, but a recent wrestler who changed his gimmick on SmackDown. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, it is about the moment and not the wrestler.

According to a report from Fightful, WWE seems to have been pushing for Austin to return to the ring. First, they seem to have approached the former pop sensation with a match against Brock Lesnar. But he declined as the money was not worth it. Then, WWE provided him with the idea of having a marquee match with Roman Reigns, but Austin declined as well.

Even last year, Austin’s confirmation to do the match with Owens came at the last second. So, it’s no surprise that the legend is taking his time this WrestleMania as well. One potential wrestler who could face Austin is LA Knight. While being new in the WWE market, Knight, formerly known as Eli Drake, is a multiple Impact World Champion.

Also, an interaction between Knight and Austin would give us an amazing mic off in the ring, even if it didn’t lead to a full match. That little rub from Austin at the Showcase of the Immortals is everything a rookie at WWE needs.
But there are other wrestlers who could replace the role of Knight. Even worse than that, Austin could just decide to sit this one out. But this is WrestleMania Hollywood and the biggest show that WWE has put on in a while. Having Austin in the ring would only increase the match card’s value.
