After a heart–breaking loss against India in Bangalore, Bangladesh came forward as a team and restricted the table topper New Zealand for 145/8. They were aided by some beautiful bowling by Mustafizur Rahman, who took 5/22 which is a record bowling figure by any bowler in World T20. But their batting fell apart and ended with a lowly total of 70 which is also their lowest score in T20s. Bangladesh have crashed out of the tournament after losing all their group matches.
New Zealand won by 75 runs and remained the Group 2 table-topper. They only posted 145, nowhere close to humongous scores of 190-200 and eventually won by that margin.
Match Facts: New Zealand (T): 145-8 (20) beat Bangladesh: 70 all out (15.4) by 75 runs.
Here’s some talking points of the game:
1. Excellent bowling by Mustafizur Rahman
The youngster stunned the team who has won all the games so far by his bowling. Mustafizur plucked the stumps of 4 of his victims by his hot and cold pace bowling.
His bowling figure of 5/22 is a record in World T20s. The slow track at Eden Gardens in Kolkata served as a piece of cake for the youngster as he dismissed the Kiwis captain, Williamson who was looking good. His left cutter did made him some fans and his clever change of pace had no solution for the Kiwis.
