The Pakistan side rose up to the occasion to square the series 2-2 and retain their 3rd rank in the ICC test rankings. The side is placed just one point below India at 111 points while England retained their 4th spot with 108 points.
Captain of the Pakistan side, Misbah-ul-Haq quoted that his side deserved the pole position in the rankings as they were into a period of exile giving other teams a chance to topple them. Pakistan are still in with a chance of topping the rankings depending on the results of the ongoing Sri Lanka-Australia and West Indies-India series. For the Pakistan side to move to number one, Sri Lanka and West Indies should either draw or win their respective Tests against Australia and India.
Current toppers Australia, who have conceded an unassailable 2-0 lead to Sri Lanka, need to win the final Test and hope that West Indies either draw or win the final Test against India, to hold on to their No. 1 position.
