14th July 2019 The Most Important Day in Tennis and Cricket History

14th July 2019 was one of the most historic days in sporting history as the ICC Cricket World Cup finals and the Wimbledon finals took place on the same day. Now, the All England Tennis club and the International Cricket Committee have collaborated to release a video that commemorates both these events.

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer clashed in the longest ever Wimbledon finals on 14th July 2019. The match would boil down to a dramatic final set tiebreaker. However, Novak Djokovic went on to register his name in the history books and claimed his 16th grand slam title.

Meanwhile, an equally interesting final was taking place between England and New Zealand. In what has been dubbed by many cricket fans as the greatest match ever played, England edged out New Zealand in the Super Over. A super over was necessitated as both the teams scored an equal amount of runs in the designated 50 overs.

England won the title for the first time in their cricketing history.

Wimbledon and ICC have joined forces with LiveWire Sport to launch a short film reliving those triumphs. The title of the video is One day in July. 

The video has also been launched on Social media channels of both the AELTC and ICC.

Ben Stokes, the star of the English team’s victory, hailed the collaboration between tennis and cricket.

“It goes without saying, the 14th July will forever be in our memories! A thrilling Men’s Cricket World Cup final full of every bit of drama that you can imagine, and a record-breaking Wimbledon final at the same time.” Said Stokes.

The fans of both the sports were extremely excited as the respective games unfolded. What added to the excitement was the nail-biting finish to both the matches. The ICC and Wimbledon also played their part by engaging in a back and forth on twitter which created a social media storm.

The release of this video provides another moment to rejoice for the fans. They will surely be looking forward to more such collaborations in the future.

It is also worth mentioning that the Formula One British Grand Prix was also held on the same day.
