8 time Grand Slam Champion hailed Stefanos Tsitsipas as one of the potential candidates to take over from the ‘Big 3’. The Czech-American tennis great feels the Greek has the ‘right game,’ provided he can be more consistent.
Having a chat on the Craig Shapiro Tennis Podcast, Lendl said, “Tsitsipas plays tennis the right way, and there are a couple of young guys who play like this including Denis Shapovalov.”
While it’s still early days for the likes of Tsitsipas and Shapovalov, Lendl feels that it will boil down to consistency and the ability to cut down on the errors. “As soon as they get experience and they stop making too many errors they are going to be very difficult to beat.”

“I thought before the French Open semi-finals that the Djokovic vs Tsitsipas match had potential to be close but Tsitsipas could not handle it physically. I was surprised Novak lost the 4th set because Tsitsipas was already struggling physically,” Lendl added.
In the semi-final of the French Open 2020, Tsitsipas showed some serious grit to make a comeback after being 2 sets down. However, in the end, Novak Djokovic proved to be too good. The scoreline read 6-3 6-2 5-7 4-6 6-1 in favor of the Serb.
Stefanos Tsitsipas’ Career So Far
The ‘Big 3’ consists of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Initially, it started off as the ‘Big 4’ with Andy Murray also included in the fray. But the Brit’s injury concerns have predominantly made it the ‘Big 3’.
The 22-year-old became the third Greek player and also the first male Greek in the modern era to pocket a Junior Grand Slam at the 2016 boy’s Doubles event.
