Norwich City were Liverpool’s favourite team, especially during the days of Luis Suarez. There have been numerous goals in this fixture in the past, and today was no exception. The exciting match at Carrow Road finished 5-4 in favour of Liverpool, courtesy of a last minute winner by Adam Lallana.
Liverpool’s goals were scored by Firmino (2), Henderson, Milner and Lallana, who scored the winner. Norwich’s goals were scored by Mbokani, Naismith, Hoolahan and Bassong who many thought scored a vital equaliser for 4-4 after which the tables were quickly turned.
Here are five talking points from the thrilling game at Carrow Road.
1. Poor defending from both teams
As much as people love goals, the quality of defending from both teams was atrocious. Both teams let in easy goals and were not able to close down attempts on target twice. When Mbokani attempted his back heel, no one rushed to block him. Bassong and Lallana had clear attempts at goal too. Milner was able to capitalize on a poor back pass by the Canaries, to calmly slot in the 4th goal for Liverpool.
Liverpool have looked very vulnerable to crosses in general, something Norwich tried to exploit in this game. The discipline shown by Alberto Moreno while defending was horrible, as he made two consecutive clumsy challenges and finally conceded a penalty.
