Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are two drivers who are still in their prime. The two of them, along with Kimi Raikkonen share a record of the most decades with at least one win, namely 2 decades. Raikkonen was in his prime during the early 2000s and even clinched the championship in 2007. So in the decade between 2000 and 2010, the three have been winning, continuing the streak. Then, between 2011 and 2018, they racked up wins yet again.

The 2019 season should also see Hamilton and Vettel try and dominate yet again. From 2020 onwards, there will be new rivals and threats but Lewis and Sebastian are in the form of their lives. So it it would not be a stretch to say that Vettel and Hamilton can sneak in a few wins from 2020 onwards before they decide to hang up their boots.

Also, inspite of being in the twilight of his career, Kimi Raikkonen should not be discounted either. The Finn has proven to be capable of miracles for underperforming teams, just ask  Lotus F1. If you asked Kimi himself, he’d probably tell you to leave him alone, he knows what he is doing.

Are Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen the only ones?

The one person who has achieved this record is Sir Jack Brabham. The Australian legend has racked up wins in the 1950s, the 1960s and the 1970 season. Michael Schumacher won races from 1992-2006, a 16-year stint which is enough to span 3 decades (more than Hamilton and Vettel so far).

However, his wins started at the beginning of the decade. So it was harder to bridge the gap to the 2010’s. However, he did come mighty close a couple of times when he returned from retirement. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel stand good chances of making it another decade of winning races. On the other hand, the likes of Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen will be giving them plenty to worry about.
