Ricky Starks has had a solid start to his career in AEW. The Superstar’s aura, style, and charm have brought him comparisons with WWE legend Dwayne Johnson a.k.a. The Rock.

Starks had an impressive AEW debut against The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes a few weeks ago for the TNT title. Interestingly, the youngster once revealed that he didn’t hear his entrance music for his AEW debut until he came out for his match.

Since his debut, Starks signed with AEW and joined forces with Taz and Brian Cage. Recently on AEW Dynamite, Starks cut a fantastic promo before his match in the main event.

The main event featured a tag team match where Ricky Starks and Brain Cage went up against Darby Allin and AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.

Towards the end of the match, Darby Allin would take out a skateboard covered with thumbtacks. Allin would then perform a leapfrog from over the rope straight onto Starks’ back with all the thumbtacks piercing him. Starks would lose the match and a lot of blood.

Recently, Ricky Starks has shown a lot of glimpses of a young Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. The upcoming AEW Superstar gives his take on this dream comparison.

AEW star Ricky Starks says he is not imitating anyone but just likes dressing well

In the Pro wrestling business, wrestlers are always seen wearing their own merchandise. The reason being free on-air promotion reaching millions and millions.

However, Ricky Starks does things differently by wearing big brands just like Hollywood stars. A prime reason for being compared to The Rock is that the great one also wears famous $500 shirts.

“That’s how I dress. People are like, ‘Oh, he’s trying to be like someone.’ No, that’s how I like to dress. I like nice clothes and fashion. No one has ever told me that I can’t dress a certain way. I have people that will clown on me back there, but it doesn’t matter. If anything, I’d rather win the Best Dressed Award over anything. The issue is, fans are used to people coming out in Nikes and basketball shorts and they see someone like me and it goes up against what they’re used to and they go, ‘This dude looks wack because he’s wearing Gucci slip-on shoes with a Gucci belt and a knit top and gold chain.’ Dude, I look fly as hell. “I just don’t get why, if someone dresses nice, why do you have to be The Rock?”

As of now, Starks doesn’t look very impressed by his comparisons with the Rock. However, a comparison with The Great One who is loved by the millions and millions is certainly a strong start to a promising career.

AEW has booked him well since his impressive debut match against the top boss Cody Rhodes. It will interesting to see what lies ahead for Ricky Starks.
