Jon Moxley is not only a former AEW World Champion, but he is also the current IWGP United States Champion. However, things might change very soon, as his challenger, Kenta, has come all the way from Japan to strike Moxley on his home turf.

On this week’s Dynamite (02/03/21), Moxley, alongside Pac and Rey Fenix, faced the current AEW Champion Kenny Omega and Impact Tag Team Champions The Good brothers in the main event of the first-ever AEW ‘Beach Party.’

The heels won the match after Gallows pinned Fenix following a magic killer. After the match, a brawl broke out. Thankfully, Lance Archer entered the scene and took care of the Good Brothers.

However, while Moxley and Omega were still in the ring, the current Bullet Club member and the number one contender for Moxley’s IWGP US title, NJPW star Kenta, made his AEW debut.

He hit the Go to Sleep on Moxley before heading out. Omega smiled at him from the corner and after he left, Omega put his foot on Moxley and closed the show.

Kenta had a lackluster WWE run before his current stint at NJPW

Kenta was a huge name in the indie circuit before he decided to tryout for WWE. However, WWE failed to do anything notable with the Japanese wrestling legend and granted him his release after 5 years.

He told Sports Illustrated that he was not satisfied as a wrestler in WWE.

“It may have been possible [in WWE] to satisfy myself as I was in the “world’s largest organization”. But as a wrestler, I now prioritize what I want to do. I can do what I want and where I want to now.”

Kenta won the IWGP US title back in August. He said facing Moxley would be a great opportunity to prove his haters wrong.

“Life is funny. I think no one thought Moxley would do a match with me a few years ago. But if I win this tournament, it could come true. This is the best chance. I’ll shut up those who looked down on me. That is one of my motivations.”

We are hoping to see more of Kenta next week. There could be a segment with the new and old Bullet Club members as well.
