Admittedly, many were excited when the French Grand Prix made a return to the F1 calendar. Unfortunately, the two races that have taken place since its return, have been less than thrilling.

So, to rectify that, the sport is pushing organisers make modifications to the Paul Ricard circuit. In fact, the 2019 race at the track was regarded as perhaps the most boring of the season.

According to L’Equipe, former McLaren boss Eric Boullier is in Abu Dhabi this weekend for talks. Boullier became involved in organising the French GP after he left McLaren in 2018

“Formula One Management has been working with the circuit since August to suggest modifications,” the report revealed.

“The first document modified almost every corner, which would be costly. But removing the chicane to extend the Mistral straight is being looked at,”.

Furthermore, the French Grand Prix organisers have floated the idea of asking the fans for their opinion about potential changes via social media.

For now though, all 10 Formula One teams will be looking ahead to the season finale in Abu Dhabi. In the first two practice sessions, Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas drew first blood, topping both sessions. The bad news is that the Finnish driver will be starting from the back of the pack, due to an unscheduled engine change.

However, given that he has been really strong this weekend, carving a path up the order should be no sweat at all. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton is under no obligation to push, as he has already wrapped up the title. However, it does not mean that he can slack off, so he will be eager to finish the season on a high note.

Though, he will face stiff competition from Max Verstappen and the Ferrari duo, with Alex Albon also trying to join in on the fun.
