In early 2019, many fans were excited to see the return of Robert Kubica to Formula One after several years. Unfortunately, with the way that George Russell has been wiping the floor with him, he was better off not racing. Due to poor performances, he has been dropped by Williams F1 and is now looking for a reserve driver role.

To that end, he has been attracting a few interested parties, for example Haas F1. Now, according to GPToday.net, another Formula One team is gunning for Kubica’s services in a reserve role, namely Racing Point.

Poor performance aside, Robert Kubica must be commended for making a full-time comeback to racing. This is in spite of spending eight years out of Formula 1 following a rally crash in 2011.

While Kubica’s future beyond 2019 is shrouded in mystery, the Pole is determined to remain in Formula 1 next season. Now, Sources have told GPToday.net that Kubica is close to inking a deal with Racing Point.

If Robert Kubica does sign a deal with the team, it will mean an additional cash injection. In other words, Kubica’s sponsor, PKN Orlen will follow the veteran wherever he goes. The Polish oil company currently sponsors Williams this year. Unfortunately, it looks like they will leave along with the departure of Kubica. However, the company wishes to remain visible in Formula 1, having figured that being in F1 would give them better exposure.
