The second and the third seed, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas set up their semifinal encounter at the China Open 2019 semifinals. The Laver Cup team-mates and next-generation tennis players are excited to play against each other.

“Tomorrow it will be a very interesting match against Stefanos, spectators are looking forward to it and me too. He’s my Laver Cup teammate. We got a little closer at the Laver Cup, so we understand each other very well now,” Zverev shared.

After their second-round victories in Beijing Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are likely to qualify for the ATP Finals in London. The defending champion, Sascha Zverev’s qualification was jeopardized before China Open and now both seem to have a chance to earn their ticket to London. Tsitsipas is currently sixth in the race to London and in Beijing, he has played some challenging matches.

Against the World Number six, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas leads 2-1 in their head to head tally. This year, the Greek lad claimed his victory over Zverev in the quarterfinals of ATP Masters 1000 Madrid.

In the quarters, Zverev defeated the American, Sam Querrey 7-6, 6-2 in an hour and 12 minutes and committed no double faults.

The next set of semifinals is set up between the top-seed, Dominic Thiem and the fourth seed, Karen Khachanov. For the first time in his career, Thiem won back to back ATP main draw matches in Asia. The Austrian halted Andy Murray’s comeback run on the ATP Tour after he defeated him in straight sets.
