Alexander Zverev Stunned By Denis Shapovalov at Rolex Paris Masters 2019

With a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 loss at Rolex Paris Masters 2019, Alexander Zverev is knocked out from the French Masters by Denis Shapovalov in the pre-quarterfinals. He broke his racquet upon playing a poor game in the opening set. In the second set and his challenge turned out to be faulty and consequently, he quarreled with the chair umpire. 

World Number six, Alexander Zverev qualified for the ATP Finals 2019 on Wednesday night with Matteo Berrettni’s loss at Rolex Paris Masters 2019, but on Thursday the German lad experienced a defeat to Denis Shapovalov.

Set One:

Upon losing his second service game in the opening set, Alexander Zverev was frustrated as Denis Shapovalov held a 4-1 lead.

Later, will the Canadian was serving for the set at 5-2, Sascha smashed his tennis racquet on the court after hitting a wide forehand and followed by the booing of the crowd.

He failed to recover from his double breakdown state as the young Canadian’s feisty forehands and backhands refused the sixth seed in Paris to exercise his control in the set.

Set Two: 

The opening game of the second set was a rollercoaster ride for Alexander Zverev. He was struggling to produce a swift hold and the aggressive tennis from Shapovalov gave him several break chances and Sascha was close to the danger zone.

The German held the first break of serve of the match for a 4-2 lead with Shapovalov making an unforced error, but in the very next game, the Canadian got chances to break back and Zverev’s misplaced groundstroke brought the second set back to 4-3.

Sascha once again had the opportunities to take a 5-3 in the second set, but some error-strewn tennis and the imposed dominance from Shapovalov settled the set at 4-4.

After squandering a 40-0 lead at 4-4, Zverev involved in the argument with the chair umpire as he lost his challenge.

Finally, on the fifth set point, Zverev pushed the set into the decider by sealing it by 7-5.

Set Three: 

It was Shapovolav dominating the third set as he denied Sascha to hold his opening service game. It was once again the repetition of the first set and with Sascha experiencing a double break and later, Shapovolav sailed into the quarterfinals of Paris Masters.
