Alexander Zverev To Reunite With Brother For Indian Wells Challenger

German tennis star Alexander Zverev is all set to begin practice for the Indian Wells Masters 2020. However, he will not be doing it through singles competition. The German no 1 has been confirmed as a participant in the doubles category at the Indian Wells Challenger event.

Additionally, his partner will be none other than his brother and long time doubles partner – Mischa Zverev.

What else do we know about the participation of Alexander Zverev? 

Zverev and his brother are all set to face Sebastian Korda and Mitchell Krueger in the first round. In fact, they are not the only big names playing in the competition. Jack Sock will be participating along with Michael Mmoh. Long injured Lucas Pouille will be making his return with Gregoire Barrere.

Additionally, the explosive duo of Jannik Sinner and Frances Tiafoe will also be present at the event.

Talking about past performances, the Zverev brothers have won two ATP events in the past. However, they weren’t able to defend their crown at Acapulco this year. They initially won 6-3, 6-3 against Jackson Withroe and Nicholas Monroe. However, they lost the quarter-finals 6-1, 6-4 against the duo of Adrian Mannarino and Fabrice Martin.

Talking about the individual performances of Zverev, his performances have been a little inconsistent. The German star had a horrendous ATP Cup where he lost all his matches. In fact, he scored so many double faults that most of his fans started losing confidence in him

However, he managed to silence all his critics with an amazing performance at the Australian Open. He made it all the way to the semi finals, where he was edged out by Dominic Thiem, who in turn was edged out by Novak Djokovic in the finals.

However, things looked bleak again at Acapulco where he lost in the round of 16 to Tommy Paul.

To break this cycle of inconsistency, Zverev will have to improve his own mistakes. Most of the times, he loses because of a lack of control over his own game rather than the supremacy of the competitor. He will have to become more disciplined in order to achieve his goal of winning a grand slam before the Big 3 retire.
