The three-time Grand Slam, Angelique Kerber annulled her coaching tenure with her coach, Rainer Schuttler after her second-round defeat at Wimbledon Championships 2019. She was Wimbledon’s defending champion this year, and Keber was shocked by the lucky loser, Lauren Davis. It was her poorest run at Wimbledon over the past five years.

Moving forward, it’s never easy to change – especially when you work with great people like Rainer. But for now, we’ve decided that it’s the right time for a fresh start. He has become a friend and I‘m thankful for his hard work & dedication in the last months.

Kerber was the reigning quarterfinalist at Roland-Garros but she was amongst the opening round casualties at the French Open 2019. She was ranked fifth in the world when she entered the grass-court major, but now after her Wimbledon slump she has slipped out of the top ten WTA rankings, and presently she is ranked 13th in the world.

Despite bagging a major title last year, the 31-year old, Angelique Kerber parted ways with her former coach, Wim Fissette and then, she appointed Schuttler in her team. They began working together since the off-season of 2018.
