Starting on November 1, players will get an announcement from Isabelle that mushrooms have begun spawning all around the island.

The mushroom season has kicked-off officially, and players can start collecting new varieties of mushrooms, which will grow near trees across their islands. Although one can sell these mushrooms for extra profit, we recommend keeping them and using them as crafting materials for special mushroom DIY items.

Like with other seasonal DIY recipes, Isabelle will give players the recipe for a mushroom wreath. One can craft this item and place it on their front door. It might take a little while to get all the mushroom recipes, as they aren’t easy to find. During November, the game will spawn five different types of mushrooms, all of which will differ in rarity and therefore have different spawn rates, depending upon the islands’ star rating.

Meanwhile, the island’s scenery, including grass and trees, will change even more throughout November than it did in October. By November end, the grass will become warm orange with autumn in full swing. However, unlike in the actual world, the trees won’t shed their leaves. Instead, players can appreciate them turning orange, red, and golden. Moreover, the days will become shorter, and players can witness some eye-catching sunsets on their islands around 5 pm.

Around November 16, Isabelle will notify players about Maple leaves starting to fall around their islands. It is very similar to when the cherry blossom leaves would fall during April. Using these maple leaves, one can craft items from the maple set, including several maple leaf-themed items. Isabelle will give players the recipe for a red-leaf pile.

We advise players to keep their nets handy throughout the month to collect as many maple leaves as possible. After grabbing enough maple leaves floating around the island, a player can craft the maple set items and celebrate the end of autumn.

Harvest Festival and new fish, bugs, and sea creatures in November

Typically in Animal Crossing, on the fourth Thursday of November, the Harvest Festival takes place. This time it is November 26. Although this event hasn’t made it to New Horizons yet, Nintendo had confirmed it with the upcoming inclusion of Franklin, the event’s main character. At this moment, it is unclear how this event will work or how it will differ from previous games. Players will probably have to make some dishes for their islanders in the spirit of Thanksgiving.

Players across the world, irrespective of their hemisphere, can take part in the Harvest Festival. Featuring a catchy musical number, it is considered one of the most enjoyable events in the game.

Last but not least, players have an assortment of new bugs, fish, and deep-sea creatures to hunt for in November. Catching and donating these critters to Blathers counts towards the fulfillment of the Museum’s exhibits. Be on the lookout and see what new critters you can find across your island. Perhaps you can even consider visiting a friend’s island in the Southern Hemisphere to grab a range of different critters.
