The ESL One: Road to Rio tournament is currently continuing. Teams are going head to head to secure a spot in the upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive major tournament, ESL One Rio 2020. Astralis have performed considerably well with a record of 4-1 in Stage 1 of the Road to Rio Europe tournament. They have overtaken Fnatic as the #1 team, according to HLTV’s world rankings for CS: GO teams.
However, so far, in 2020, the Danish esports organization’s results are of a mixed variant. Astralis finished last at BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 and made to the semifinals at IEM Katowice. At ESL Pro League Season 11, they secured a third-place finish.
Now, according to DBLTAP’s report, Astralis could sign up to two more players for their current CS: GO roster. Perhaps, the somewhat inconsistent results could be pushing this move.

I swear to god, if Astralis signs a 7th player and that I ain’t me, they don’t mean real business 😎

Although es3tag hasn’t officially joined Astralis yet, a deal has been agreed in principle. The deal will see es3tag officially join Astralis on July 1, when his contract with Heroic, another Danish esports organization, expires. Allowing the contract to run down would mean Astralis won’t have to pay Heroic a transfer fee for the acquisition.

However, after Astralis confirmed their future acquisition of es3tag in late March, multiple sources disclosed to DBLTAP that he won’t be the only addition to the Danes’ CS: GO roster in 2020. Now, it seems the search for expanding the roster has begun once again. It will result in at least one more acquisition, if not two, according to DeKay’s report.
If Astralis sign two more players, their CS: GO roster would include eight players in its entirety. It will allow them to move players in and out of the lineup. As of now, it is unknown if the potential new names would work collectively with the rest of the lineup. Or if they will replace someone from the starting lineup.
