At the last stop of Diamond League 2021, American sprinting star Fred Kerley wrote history for his country. Fred became the first man to clinch a medal in all three races, i.e. 100, 200, 400m at the Diamond League.

Fred also led Team USA to the podium at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Kerley had clinched the silver medal in the 100m race, even after specializing in the 400m race. The 26-year-old Fred has proved that he has the versatility for all three sprinting events.

Fred had claimed he wants to be the best, and he proved it

After his Olympic achievement, Fred had stated that he wants to be the best in all three events. He had also mentioned that he wants to follow the steps of the legendary Usain Bolt.

At the Diamond League meet in Brussels, Fred won the 100m race by clocking a time of 9.94 seconds. He defeated Olympic trials champion Trayvon Bromell and another American star Michael Norman. Interestingly, Trayvon and Michael had a better start than the Tokyo Olympics silver medalist. But Kerley eventually took over his fellow Americans to win the race.

Fred won his first Diamond League event in 2018 in the 400m race. A little while ago he ran his personal best time of 19.79 seconds in the 200m race at Diamond League 2021 in Paris. Now, Fred is the only man to clinch a medal in all three races at the Diamonds League meet.

The sky is the limit for American star Fred Kerley

Fred’s World Championships journey started back in 2017 as a 400m race sprinter. Even after coming back to the field after an injury, Kerley clinched his first Diamond League glory in 2018 in the 400m race.

The World champion in 400m surprised the world when he changed his track for the Olympic trials for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Even after shinning in 400m, Fred Kerley choose to run for 100m and 200m races.

Notably, he made it to the Team USA for the 100m race. After his Olympic trials performance, he became the third athlete to enter the Sub-10s, the 20s, and 44s in the 100m, 200m, and 400m races. And then, Fred proved his versatile speed as he clinched the silver medal in Tokyo.

After his recent historic win at the Diamond League 2021, a Twitter fan asked Fred which event is his next aim. Humorously, Fred replied, “800.” Considering his talent in all fields, you can’t rule it out for the American.

Fred has revealed his desire to become a sprinting legend, in order to do so he will have to break Usain Bolt’s record. A world record that has not been broken since 2009. His aim to achieve the same seems clear and not impossible with his upward performance graph.
