“70% is Still Good Enough”: Snooker Legend Draws Parallel with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are presently rehabilitating from their respective injuries. The 20-time Grand Slam champions missed most of the  2021 ATP season due to ailments. Ronald O’Sullivan, an English professional snooker player, praised Federer and Nadal’s longevity in the sport of Tennis.

The 45-years old gave the example of tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, as even at this age the tennis stars display a desire to continue playing. O’Sullivan is very much inspired by both the tennis players.

Snooker star hails Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

In an interview, the British professional snooker player, Ronald O’Sullivan, appreciated the efforts of Roger Federer and Rafael for playing at such ages. Being 45-years old, O’Sullivan knows that as a player begins to age, he loses his concentration and sustainability. Ronald O’Sullivan himself is a six times World Champion in snooker and knows what it means to compete at the highest level.

On the aging factor, he stated, “Because at my age now, if I win a tournament, or at least put my heart and soul into it, it takes me three or four days just to sort of recover again to be able to go again. Whereas maybe seven, eight years ago I could win the World Championship and then wake up the next day and think, ‘I could do that again.

Moreover, he demonstrated the example of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. In his words, he said, “We’ve kind of been okay, because we came from special era where, like Federer and Nadal, 70% is still good enough to compete.

Federer and Nadal’s injury update

Roger Federer is presently recovering from his knee injury. The Maestro hasn’t competed after he lost in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2021. However, just recently at Laver Cup, the Swiss maestro confessed that he’s in a happy place and hopes to return to the court very soon.

On the other hand, Rafael Nadal suffered a left foot injury after a shocking exit from the semi-finals of the French Open 2021. Since then, the Spaniard has purely concentrated on his rehabilitation. Subsequently, Toni Nadal, Rafael Nadal’s uncle, has spoken on several occasions that his nephew has started his training and will hopefully return for the 2022 season.
