A Decade in Review: Novak Djokovic Way Ahead of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in This Amazing Stat

The end of the 2020 tennis season also marks the end of the entire decade 2011-2020. After witnessing some exceptional performances, it is time to look at some of the magnificent records of the decade. Interestingly, World No.1 Novak Djokovic also tops the list of the players with the best win percentage in the decade.

The Serbian legend ended the decade with a winning percentage of 87.64%. The dominance of Djokovic becomes visible after one compares him with the second-placed Rafael Nadal. Rafa maintained a winning percentage of 83.86% in the decade which was just 0.30% more than Roger Federer who finished third with 83.56%.

Therefore, Djoker was about 4% ahead of the other two in the ‘Big Three’ in the feat which is not a small number. Andy Murray featured at the fourth position on the list with a winning percentage of 79.42%. Juan Martin Del Potro is the last of the top 5 but is well behind Murray with 75.69%.

There is another list but the players would not be proud to see their names on it. It includes the names of those who had the worst winning percentage after playing a minimum of 200 matches in 2011-2020. Surprisingly, US Open 2020 winner Alexander Zverev tops the list with a win percentage of only 38.81%. Italian player Paolo Lorenzi also features on the list.

Novak Djokovic also has the best win percentage in Grand Slams

The hegemony of Djokovic increased to a further level in Grand Slams as the Serbian ended the decade with a win percentage of 90.56%. In simpler terms, it means that the World No.1 won 9 out of every 10 matches at Grand Slams.

Rafa also has a much better record here with a win percentage of 88.04% and Federer is again at third with 84. 15%. The change comes at the fifth spot where 3-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka replaces Del Potro with a win percentage of 76.39%.

One could thus imagine the supremacy that Novak Djokovic maintained in the timeline 2011-2020. During this period, the Serbian won 16 Grand Slam titles which are far more than Rafa’s and Federer’s Grand Slam titles in the same period.

What’s even more astounding is the fact that Djokovic is not stopping and wishes to go for more. His fans believe that it would be really hard to beat him at the upcoming Australian Open 2021.
