Juan Martin Del Potro’s Match Tickets Sold Out as He Nears the End of an Illustrious Career

Juan Martin del Potro is back! The former US Open champion is making a comeback on the court after more than two and a half years. The towering Argentine has been plagued with injuries throughout his illustrious career. However, the last few years have been the worst with knee and wrist injuries.
The 33-year-old last played at the Queen’s Club in London in 2019. He had to withdraw from that tournament in the second round after injuring his right knee. Since then, he has had two surgeries which have kept him out of action.

The former World Number 3 is making a comeback at the Argentina Open. He will take on fellow countryman Federico Delbonis in the opening round.

The former US Open winner had hinted at a possible retirement and stated that his appearance at the Argentina Open will be more of a ‘farewell’ rather than a ‘comeback’. Thus, it is highly likely that it will be his final tournament in front of his home crowd.

Juan Martin del Potro had received a wildcard entry to participate in his ‘home’ tournament. “It will be very special to come back to the tour in Buenos Aires,” del Potro had said ahead of his first-round match. Additionally, he has also accepted a wildcard at the ATP 500 Rio Open.
