After winning the French Open and the Wimbledon in 2009, Roger Federer was a complete favorite to win the US Open as well. However, Juan Del Potro achieved a staggering victory in an epic five-set final at the US Open 2009 and registered his first Grand Slam title.

Rafael Nadal’s uncle, Toni Nadal, never backs down from answering any question. He always has his opinions on various tennis subjects. Recently, in a podcast with the Tres Iguales podcast, Uncle Nadal gave his perspectives about Juan Del Potro.
He said, “He had everything to succeed. I think he would have achieved enormous successes, fighting face to face with the Big 3 and with Murray. His shots are tremendous, he is very consistent, and he had a magnificent mental predisposition to compete.”

Toni Nadal believes despite having the potential, Juan Martin del Potro hasn’t been able to achieve the success he should have.

Juan Del Potro played his last professional match at Queen’s championship club 2019. The number three seed Juan Del Potro beat Denis Shapovalov in straight sets in the round of 32.
Unfortunately, the Argentinian was forced to retire in the round of 16 due to injury concerns. Since then, he has undergone four right knee surgeries in June 2019, January 2020, August 2020, and March 2021. However, in August 2021, Del Potro confirmed that he’s feeling better and hopes to be back on the court soon.
