ATP World No.1 Novak Djokovic recently announced that he won’t be participating in the Cincinnati Masters 2021. After a disappointing showing at the Olympics for the Serbian, he made his decision in order to remain completely fit for the US Open 2021.

Novak Djokovic is currently the Men’s No.1 player in the world with 12,113 points. He has gained the most points this year, winning all three Grand Slam titles so far. However, could he lose his No.1 spot before the US Open 2021?

Even though Djokovic is not playing at the National Bank Open and the Cincinnati Masters 2021, he will not lose any points. This is because he has already withdrawn from the both the Masters tournaments before they started. Thus, at the start of the US Open 2021, his points tally will remain constant at 12,113.

Daniil Medvedev is the No.2 player with 9,920 points. This means that even if he wins both the tournaments, he won’t earn enough points to dethrone Novak from the top spot. As a result, the Serbian’s ranking will remain the same even after his withdrawal from the Cincinnati Masters 2021.
