Despite Not Playing for 13 Months, Roger Federer Becomes the Highest-Paid Tennis Player for 17th Consecutive Year

Roger Federer is one of the greatest players to have played the sport of tennis. With his audacious displays on the tennis court throughout his illustrious career, the Swiss maestro has had a fanbase all over the world. Recently, Forbes released a list of the highest-earning tennis superstars in the world. The Swiss legend had a reason to cheer about it.

During his career, lasting more than 20 years now, Federer has managed to win an astonishing 20 Grand Slam titles. While his exploits on the court are no secret, Federer has also carved a niche for himself in the business world.

Roger Federer continues to be the highest-paid tennis player

The 41-year-old retained the top spot in Forbes’ list of the highest-paid tennis superstars despite his absence from the tour. While his on-court earnings are none due to his long-injury absence, the Swiss maestro’s sponsorship deals and investments make him a cut above the rest.

Federer earned $90 million in off-court earnings from his sponsors, such as Uniqlo, Credit Suisse, and Rolex. Additionally, he also has an equity stake in the Swiss running shoe brand, On. The company went public last September. Meanwhile, the likes of Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams, and Rafael Nadal follow Federer on Forbes’ list.

On the tennis front, Federer last played a competitive match at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. However, he suffered a knee injury following his quarterfinal defeat against Hubert Hurkacz. As a result, the former World Number 1 hasn’t played for over a year.

When will Federer make a comeback?

The Swiss maestro’s fans have been longing to see him back on the tennis court. And Federer hasn’t disappointed them as he earlier revealed that he will make a comeback at the Laver Cup next month. Joining Federer will be the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray in Team Europe for the Laver Cup.
