Dominic Thiem is certainly on cloud 9. At the ATP Finals 2020, he has defeated both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal to cement his place in the finals. What’s even more incredible is that now he has at least five wins over each of the ‘Big Three’ members and has become the second player to do so.

After his spectacular form against the ‘Big Three’, a journalist asked Thiem if he considered himself one of the fab 3 or fab 4 now. To everyone’s astonishment, the US Open 2020 winner came up with a witty reply.

“No, of course, not,” began Thiem with a smile. “If you compare, especially the big titles, I am so far away. I have 1 Slam, 1 Masters, 1 1000s and that’s it. That’s a little bit less than the other three players.”

Thiem surely reflected that although he has enjoyed success against the ‘Big Three’ lately, he is nowhere near them.  He believes that he still has to accomplish many more things in his career. Perhaps then, it would be the right time to decide whether to include him on the list or not. As of now, he has admitted that he has too few titles for a fair comparison.

I love to play against them. As I said, it’s such a huge thing-every single match against them. Younger players can feel super happy that these three living legends are around them, we can compete with them. Every match against them is a great opportunity. And, that’s what I think about it,” concluded the 27-year-old Thiem.
